The Virtual Steelpan Project

The Virtual Steelpan project is meant as a way to give back to the steelpan community. My goal is to provide a resource to students, directors, and pan enthusiasts to utilize. Having access to digital pans for reference or at-home practice can really change a lot for an individual, a steelband, a program, and more. This is not a new concept by any means, but I hope to make these more accessible than ever before so feel free to share this page with those who might find it useful. I will keep adding pans to this as I am able.

Everyone has free access to all the pans and various layouts. If you don’t see a certain layout that you think should be accessible and represented, feel free to reach out. If you want to expedite the process of getting a certain pan on here, you can sponsor the development of a virtual pan for $100.

If you’d like to outfit your band even more, please check out my Digital Panyard program.

Sponsor a Virtual Steelpan
$100.00

Don’t see a voice or layout you want to be accessible and represented on The Virtual Steelpans Project? Perhaps you want to use the new virtual pan for your own practice or for your steelband members to use to match your layouts in your band. Regardless of the reason, you can expedite the development of a virtual pan with a one-time sponsorship.

How it works:

  • Pay for the sponsorship

  • I will reach out to inquire about the details (or feel free to start the conversation through “Contact”)

  • Send me a top-down photo of the pan. Pans laying flat on the ground is best (if the skirt length permits).

  • Send me the Name(s), Range, and any other pertinent info

  • I will work with Andy Narrell and Ilio to provide high quality samples from the Andy Narell Steel Pans/The Ellie Mannette Collection.

  • I will get to work on the development of the pan

  • You will be notified when it is finished (typically 4 - 7weeks)

  • The new virtual pan will be added to the site for the community to use

  • Your name will be added to the page as a sponsor of that instrument (if wanted)

What are you paying for?

You are paying to expedite the development of the new pan. There is quite a bit involved in the production of these virtual pans including: producing graphics, selecting and applying samples, programming, testing, and embedding onto the site. Your sponsorship will cover the hard cost of development, leaving the time and effort for me to add.

If you’d like to outfit your band even more, please check out my Digital Panyard program.
