"Make It" is one of those pieces that sounds more difficult than it actually is. It gives a chance to focus on dynamic contrast and has optional solo accompaniment sections. These can be soloed over (or played as is with no solo), looped, removed and even shifted around as needed to feature your soloist(s). Some solo options give the band higher or lower accompaniment notes to stay out of the range of the soloist. You should feel free to add percussion as you see fit but some good options might include shaker, conga, and triangle. Duration = 4.5mins
The melody for Make It was composed for another steel drum project I was working on almost 10yrs before it took this form. The current iteration was shown in chunks to the W. O. Smith Steel Band and when I heard them constantly playing and singing the melody outside of rehearsal, I knew it needed to become a real piece. I know the melody is an ear worm for me!
