The Major & Minor Scales for Steelband
All 12 Major and natural minor scales written for the whole steelband to practice together with drum set grooves and engine room parts. Each of the 12 keys has a half note, quarter note, and eighth note exercise with a rehearsal mark above each to easily start and stop to fit the needs of your band. Generally, these scales have been written to utilize the lower range of the pans. When an octave shift is required of more than one voice of the band they have been written to shift at the same time to simplify the rehearsal and explanations. Of course the octaves can be swapped as needed to accommodate your band and the needs of your rehearsal. These can be utilized as a daily warmup, a tool to prep for the key center(s) of a song, a building block for improvisation, a theory study, a playing test, and much more.
