Emerging is an Intermediate/Advanced Double Second solo written to stretch the player’s ability to phrase melodies through hand changes and simultaneous ostinatos. The use of double stops and quick pan changes forces the player to develop their control and touch. Duration – 3.5mins
"This composition was originally inspired by Debussy's Sunken Cathedral and was taken further through learning to play Druckman's Reflections on the Nature of Water. The opening theme represents an ocean wave rising and falling while the ostinato drone represents a subsurface current moving at a different rate of speed. This swirling sound leads to crashing waves and eventually to the tide moving back out."
